Perho's Honey & CSA apple orchard

Two bee­hives where brought to the fifth floor ter­race at Perho in the spring of 2013. Dur­ing the first sea­son of 2013, Perho re­ceived to­tal of about 70 kg of honey. The sec­ond sea­son (2014) pro­vided about 110 kg of honey. In the late sum­mer of 2014, two ad­di­tional bee­hives were added.

Teach­ing kitchens and the Restau­rant Perho uti­lize ex­tracted honey and fresh hon­ey­combs in va­ri­ety of ways.

Bees pro­duce honey, but their pol­li­na­tion is per­haps even more valu­able. Bees are im­por­tant pol­li­na­tors for the va­ri­ety of crops, as well as nat­u­ral plants! The sea­sonal har­vests can be in­creased by up to 50% if there are bee­hives nearby.

Community Supported Appleorchard

Since the au­tumn of 2014, Perho has been pur­chas­ing six shares of ap­ples ev­ery year from Råbäck Gård com­mu­nity sup­ported ap­ple or­chard farm, in Es­poo. One share of sea­sonal ap­ples in­cludes fif­teen ap­ple trees—about 15 kg of ap­ples. The cost of one share is 40 eu­ros. (http://raback­gard.fi/ )

Ap­ple shares in­clude four va­ri­eties of ap­ples: Geneva Early, Nanna, Ru­bi­nola and Amorosa.
