Vocabulary

BIODIVERSITY

is the variety of different types of life found on earth. It is a measure of the variety of organisms present in different ecosystems. This can refer to genetic variation, ecosystem variation, or species variation (number of species) within an area, biome, or planet.

DIVERSITY

the condition of having or being composed of differing elements :  variety; especially :  the inclusion of different types of people (as people of different races or cultures) in a group or organization

ECO-EFFICIENCY

Producing goods and services with less material or energy; using less resources; using them more
effectively.

RECYCLABLE WASTE

Waste that can be re-used as material or energy production such as: paper, cardboard, metal and energy waste.

RECYCLING

A process of using waste materials  for the production of  new products to prevent the amount of waste of potentially useful materials. For example, the use of recycled paper in newsprint.

REASONABLE CONSUMPTION

Continued growth of questioning. What is enough for us? What do we really appreciate and need? How can we improve the quality of life while reducing the over consumption?

PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE

Production stages from the raw materials to consumption and to waste accumulation.
(supply of raw materials + transportation + manufacturing + distribution + usage + waste management)

RE-USE OF PRODUCTS

Re-using products or repairing or re-construcing them for re-use that otherwise would have been thrown away.

RECYCLED (secondary) PRODUCT

The product is manufactured from recycled materials such as recycled paper.
