Students can receive social benefits on a condition that they study full time.
Student meals at Herkku
The students receive one free meal on school days. Morning porridge is also free of charge. In addition they can buy breakfast and afternoon coffee at low student prices. The students have their meals according to the meal schedules, located in Wilma.
Once a week, the student restaurant – Herkku, serves vegetarian food. Students with special diets must ask for a special diet card from the school nurse and present it at the lunch counter.
If student has kitchen lessons, meals are prepared and consumed in a kitchen during the kitchen lessons, not at Herkku. Before afternoon kitchen lessons, a small afternoon snack is also offered in a kitchen.
Student financial aid
KELA (Social Insurance Institution of Finland) and the staff at the student affairs office advise students on student financial aid issues. The student financial aid is applied for by a KELA form available at the student affairs office. The student affairs office reports absences exceeding one week or irregular participation in the studies to KELA, which decides about discontinuing the payment of financial aid to the student.

The accident insurance that covers the students of Perho Culinary, Tourism & Business College is valid during the training organized in the workplace period, including the student’s journey to and from work. The responsibility for possible damages done by the student to a training placement company or its customers lies with the company itself, as is the case for employees in general.
In case of any incidents during the day of the training period, the student must contact school nurse or on-the-job learning teacher. In case of any incidents in the evenings, the student may go directly to the doctor and inform about his/her student status at Perho Culinary, Tourism & Business College and tell that he/she is insured by Perho (Fennia Group Insurance.). The next day student must fill in the insurance form with the school nurse, which will be issued to doctor.
